About the Cane Knife - The Cane Knife is of cultural significance to South Sea Islander peoples. 

From the 1860’s more than 60,000 South Sea Islanders were taken to Australia through slavery and indentured labour to work the sugarcane fields. This piece is carved in remembrance of their resilience and truth.
